On Monday, August 27th the Eleanor Volunteer Fire Department and 5 other Putnam County Volunteer Departments performed training exercises at the Eleanor Park and Pool. Eleanor VFD was joined by volunteer firefighters from Winfield, Bancroft, Route 34, Poca and Teays Valley. This cooperative training effort inside Eleanor Park gave these departments an opportunity to sharpen their skills and fine tune their processes.
Throughout the evening they moved more than 80,000 gallons of water from the Eleanor Pool averaging 1,000 gallons per minute. Several times throughout the process they were moving more than 1,700 gallons per minute. Emergency equipment utilized during this training process included 5 tankers, 3 engines and a ladder truck.
Across the parking lot, the departments assisted the town in safely burning a large brush pile that accumulated over the last few months. The community service they performed for the town and their daily efforts to help and protect our communities is greatly appreciated.
On behalf of the town of Eleanor and residents, thank you!
